Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Online Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is a nationally recognized university dedicated to providing its students with a high-quality, transformational education. SIUE prepares its students to thrive in the workforce regardless of whether its graduates build their careers in Illinois, elsewhere in the United States, or in other parts of the world. SIUE awards both undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of disciplines, including the arts, sciences, nursing, education, health, human behavior, business, and engineering.
The SIUE School of Business offers an accelerated online MBA program featuring six specializations: business administration (general program), business analytics, healthcare administration, management, management information systems, and project management. Regardless of specialization, the MBA curriculum is designed to prepare its graduates with the skills to effectively analyze, interpret and use information in the development, communication, and implementation of management decisions in a variety of business environments. The MBA curriculum emphasizes the ethical management of resources within a global context as well as the skills needed to practice a transdisciplinary approach in the world of business.
SIUE, located in Edwardsville, Illinois, is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The next reaffirmation of accreditation for SIUE was scheduled to take place in the spring of 2025. The SIUE School of Business MBA program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International).
What to Expect from SIUE Online MBA Programs
Admission Requirements: Admission decisions for the SIUE MBA programs are determined based on a number of factors, including applicants’ academic performance in their past academic studies (GPA) as well as the quality of their application materials. Students not offered admission upon a first application have the right to appeal an admission rejection. Appeals are processed by the MBA program director, and appeals decisions made by the director are final.
A complete application to the SIUE MBA program consists of a graduate school application, an application fee, proof of award of a bachelor’s degree as evidenced by academic transcripts in which the applicant’s cumulative GPA was at least 2.5 (on a four point scale) for undergraduate coursework and at least 3.0 for any graduate coursework attempted, postsecondary academic transcripts from any other institutions the applicant has attended, a current resume that details post-bachelor’s professional experience, and any required personal history information.
Applicants who have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or lower in undergraduate coursework may be required to provide a recent GMAT or GRE score once an initial review of their application is completed. The MBA program may also request other supportive materials or interviews as a means of confirming the applicant’s capacity to successfully complete the MBA program. Applicants are recommended to have at least two years of work experience upon entry into an MBA program.
These requirements are identical across all MBA specializations. Because admissions requirements are subject to change, it is recommended that all prospective applicants contact a student services representative to verify current admission requirements.

State Restrictions: SIUE welcomes students from diverse backgrounds, including international applicants and military personnel.
International applicants presenting foreign academic credentials whose first language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as a criterion for admission. Details on which English language proficiency exam providers’ results will be accepted can be found on the SIUE MBA program website. International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), located within the SIUE Office of International Affairs, is responsible for supporting international students and scholars with F1 and J1 visas. ISSS services include advising regarding compliance with U.S. immigration regulations, serving as primary liaison with U.S. government agencies on issues related to F1 and J1 students, international student orientation, and providing student and community programming that includes cross-cultural experiences. Additional information relevant to international students’ interests can be found on the SIUE “International at SIUE” webpage.
The SIUE Office of Military and Veteran Services serves as the university’s nexus for services dedicated to military personnel. The office’s mission is to assist active military personnel, veterans, their spouses, dependents and survivors by providing a safe, supportive environment as well as resources to ensure both a good transition into SIUE as well as support throughout academic studies. Members of the military community will find a number of resources on the SIUE’s webpage dedicated to military services. Examples include scholarship listings; the Service, Academics, Leadership, Unity, Tribute, Excellence (SALUTE) national honor society; the Accessible Campus Community & Equitable Student Support (ACCESS) program; counseling services; learning support services; and still more.
Applicants with military backgrounds complete an admission process distinct from other student groups. A successful application may ultimately include some combination of the following: a DD-214 form (Report of Separation), VA Certificate of Eligibility for Education and Training Benefits, official transcripts from other institutions (if transferring to SIUE) as well as military transcripts, ACT/SAT scores for applicants who are 21 years of age of younger, an immunization record, and medical documentation related to disability for those applicants who have a disability. Military applicants must pay no application fee.
Additional steps of the pre-admission process for military applicants include applying for VA educational benefits, and taking any required placement tests. Military personnel, like other applicants, are required to apply for financial aid by submitting a complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Paying for the SIUE Online MBA Degree Programs
The online MBA degree program tuition figures are listed in the tables below. Prospective students should closely review tuition information and contact SIUE for additional support with applications and questions as needed.
The SIUE Office of Student Financial Aid website provides a wealth of information to assist both applicants and students in learning about and applying to the many financial resources they may be eligible to receive. Examples of such resources include grants, scholarships, loans, student employment, and assistantships. A listing of external financial aid websites within the SIUE website directs individuals to still more information regarding the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), entrance and exit counseling, the national scholarship search site, FastWeb, financial aid for study abroad, a net price calculator, and much more.
Completing and submitting the FAFSA is the first step most students will take to explore how to finance their education. In addition to the variety of financial resources available to all students, there are several resources specifically designated for students from particular backgrounds.
Military personnel are but one example. In order to make study more affordable, SIUE offers the Military and Department of Defense (DoD) Tuition Rate for active military, reservists, National Guard and DoD personnel. Military personnel of all branches may also qualify for tuition assistance. The Illinois National Guard Grant, the Illinois Veterans Grant, and the Deceased, Disabled, and MIA/POW Veterans’ Dependents Scholarship are but a few more examples of potential financial resources for members of the military community. International students may also benefit from particular resources. For example, academically qualified international freshmen, transfer, and graduate students are eligible for the GEO Award. This award is a reduced tuition rate that recognizes outstanding academic achievement. The GEO Award is available for all terms (fall, spring, and summer). Applicants are automatically considered for this award when their admission application is reviewed.
Students of all backgrounds are encouraged to thoroughly explore their education financing options and closely consult with SIUE before and after submitting an admission application.
