Arkansas State University Online Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Arkansas State University (ASU; A-State), founded in 1909, is both the second-largest university in Arkansas and the economic and cultural engine of Northeast Arkansas. ASU’s noteworthy public-private partnerships include collaborations with the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine as well as the ASU campus located in Querétaro, Mexico.

ASU’s mission is to educate leaders, promote intellectual growth, and enrich the lives of its students, in Northeast Arkansas, the Mid-South, and wherever ASU graduates ultimately pursue their careers. ASU’s students, who come from Arkansas, the United States and around the world, are able to pursue degree programs in more than 150 areas of study.

The ASU College of Business offers an online master of business administration (MBA) program with nine specializations: agricultural business; business analytics; financial planning and analysis; healthcare management; human resource management; management; marketing; supply chain management; and a general MBA program.

ASU’s many MBA program options, its diverse study body, its international campus presence in Mexico and much more make it a great university for students to pursue their education.

Arkansas State University, located in Jonesboro, Arkansas, is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The ASU College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International).

What to Expect from ASU Online MBA Programs

  • Admission Requirements: Applicants must submit a complete online application, a nonrefundable application fee, and official transcripts. To be considered eligible for admission, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, in which they had a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 or a GPA of at least 2.75 in the last 60 hours of their coursework. Applicants may also qualify by having a graduate or post-baccalaureate professional degree from a regionally accredited (U.S.) institution. Applicants with a cumulative GPA less than 2.5 or less than 2.75 in the last 60 credits of coursework may still be considered, provided they submit a statement of purpose as part of their application.

Finally, those students who are admitted but have a cumulative GPA less than 2.75 or less than 3.0 in the last 60 credit-hours must earn a grade of B or better in each course of their first six hours of graduate work at ASU to meet the requirements for conditional admission status. Given that admission requirements are subject to change, applicants are recommended to contact an ASU enrollment services representative to verify requirements and receive assistance with preparing their applications as needed.

The requirements described here are identical across all MBA specializations. Because admissions requirements are subject to change, it is recommended that all prospective applicants contact a student services representative to verify current admission requirements.

  • State Restrictions: ASU welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds including such groups as international applicants and military personnel.

International applicants seeking admission to the ASU MBA programs must have had a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. In addition, applicants who have previously completed graduate/master’s degree courses must have had a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in such coursework. Whereas the ASU online MBA programs offer admission to applicants at the beginning of both summer terms and both autumn terms, the ASU online MBA programs offer admission to international students in the first summer session and both autumn sessions only. International applicants may be asked to demonstrate their English language proficiency if they originate from certain countries. Details on which countries are on ASU’s exemption list for demonstrating English language proficiency, as well as what language proficiency exam providers’ results will be accepted, can be found on the ASU MBA program webpage.

Military personnel are also welcome to pursue an education at ASU. ASU is an approved institution for veterans and veterans’ beneficiaries training. Military personnel who may ultimately be eligible for assistance include veterans of recent military service, the dependents of certain service personnel, reservists, and members of the National Guard. ASU veteran affairs representatives may be able to assist veterans with applications to Chapter 30, Chapter 33/ Post 9/11, Chapter 1606, Chapter 1607, and Chapter 35 programs. ASU can also potentially assist with the evaluation of military education credit for transferable academic credit at ASU. Perspective military applicants are recommended to contact ASU directly to learn more about what resources may be available to them.

Given the diversity of ASU’s student body and the fact that admissions, financial aid and other important ASU policies may change each year, it is highly recommended that prospective applicants thoroughly review the ASU website and/or contact the university directly to verify current policies.

  • Study Plan: Students can complete the MBA program within as little as 12 months. Students interested in completing their program part-time or over an extended time period should contact an enrollment services representative to verify current ASU policy related to degree study planning.
