Bowling Green State University Online Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Bowling Green State University (BGSU), founded in 1910, is a public university dedicated to the public good. Originally founded by the state to prepare teachers for a career in education, BGSU is today known as a high-research, nationally ranked university. The Wall Street Journal has repeatedly ranked BGSU as first among public universities in the Midwest that students would choose again as well as the number one public university in Ohio, based on student experience.

Today, BGSU is also noteworthy for its emphasis on the development of public-private and public-public partnerships as well as new academic programs designed to prepare students for careers that will meet future workforce needs both in Ohio and beyond.

BGSU offers an online master of business administration (MBA) program with several specializations: accounting, finance, marketing, supply chain management, and a general program. BGSU’s MBA programs are designed for experienced professionals looking to further enhance their leadership and problem-solving skills to advance their careers.

BGSU, located in Bowling Green, Ohio, has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) since 1916. The BGSU Schmidthorst College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International).

  • State Restrictions: BGSU welcomes students from all states in the United States, as well as students from a variety of backgrounds such as military personnel.

The BGSU Office of Admissions is responsible for coordinating the admission of international students. International applicants to graduate programs must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Some applicants will be required to provide proof of English language proficiency via test scores obtained from an approved language proficiency exam provider. Prospective applicants should contact BGSU to verify which exam providers will be accepted.

Applicants are not required to demonstrate English language proficiency if they are a US citizen, have a previous degree (associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate) from a U.S. college or university or from a country in which instruction was delivered in English, or are from a country whose population speaks English as its first language.

BGSU was ranked first in the Midwest for veterans and active military students by The Military Times in its Best for Vets: Colleges 2024 rankings. Military students receive services from BGSU’s Nontraditional and Military Student Services (NTMSS). BGSU provides a variety of resources to members of the military community including active-duty individuals, veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, and dependents. Military-affiliated students who qualify may receive resources such as VA benefits, the Ohio National Guard Scholarship, and Tuition Assistance.

Military students may also receive academic credit for learning completed during their military service/education through something called a prior learning assessment. Individuals with military backgrounds interested in applying to the BGSU online MBA programs should review the BGSU website and contact NTMSS for more information.
