Eastern Oregon University (EOU) offers an online master of business administration (MBA) with various electives for students to focus their MBA according to their professional goals. The online MBA is designed for working professionals and may be earned in 18 months by taking two courses per 11 weeks.

Those who wish to complete the degree faster may take three to four courses every 11 weeks. Competency may be required in the following areas for admission: finance, marketing, accounting, management, and operations management. No GMAT or GRE is required, and start dates land in the summer, fall, winter, and spring. Students may transfer in up to 15 credits of applicable courses.

This program focuses on creativity and innovation with a course specifically dedicated to those subjects, as well as global business, sustainability, and optimization. Elective courses cover a range of topics including emotional intelligence, disaster recovery, agribusiness, advanced accounting, taxes, and alternative business strategies. Students choose five elective courses to round out their MBA.

Graduates of the EOU online MBA may go on to careers as financial managers, budget analysts, public relations managers, human resources managers, administrative services managers, and management analysts.

Eastern Oregon University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). The online MBA is accredited through the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE). Eastern Oregon University is located in La Grande, Oregon.

What to Expect from the Eastern Oregon University Online MBA

Admission Requirements: Applicants to the EOU online MBA program must hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. No GMAT, GRE, or work experience is required. Note that applicants may be required to have reached competency in several areas including accounting, operations management, marketing, finance, and management.

Application materials include an online application, official transcripts, an essay, cover letter, and letters of recommendation.

Study Plan: Eastern Oregon University students typically complete two courses every 11 weeks to finish the program in 18 months. Those wishing to study full-time would take three to four courses every 11 weeks to complete the degree more quickly. Start dates land in the summer, fall, winter, and spring. The MBA program is 100 percent online, not requiring any campus visits. An MBA capstone course is included in the program, emphasizing strategic decision-making through an online simulation.

Curriculum: The EOU online MBA comprises 45 credits including 15 credits of electives. Core courses include managerial communications; marketing strategies and techniques; organizational management and leadership; creativity and innovation; managerial finance; global business intelligence; optimization; sustainable competitive advantage; operational decision-making; and an MBA capstone.

Students then choose five courses from eight elective choices, including special topics; emotional intelligence and managerial effectiveness; business and the environment; alternative business strategies; strategic agribusiness management; disaster recovery and business continuity; advanced accounting theory; and taxes and business strategy.

Online Experience: Eastern Oregon University utilizes the Canvas learning platform to deliver asynchronous course materials. This is also where syllabi, course materials, discussion boards, assignments, and assessments are found.

With a focus on personal support, students have access to enrollment counselors, academic advisors, faculty office hours, tuition planners, career counselors, and a transcript team to help them throughout the program. The EOU IT Help Desk is available for technical support with computer and software specifications and assistance with Canvas.

On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements as the EOU online MBA is 100 percent online.
