What to Expect from FGCU Online MBA Programs

Admission Requirements: Applicants may be offered conditional or unconditional admission to the FGCU MBA programs. In order to be admitted, an applicant must demonstrate the award of an undergraduate degree from an AACSB or ABET-accredited institution of higher education, as demonstrated by the submission of official copies of academic transcripts. This degree must have been awarded in the last seven years. In addition, the applicant must have maintained a GPA of at least 3.0 in the last 60 credit hours of coursework.

Applicants with a GPA between 2.50 and 2.99 or those who hold an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution not accredited by AACSB or ABET are considered on a case-by-case basis. Such applicants must have a minimum GMAT score of 450 and a sufficiently robust GPA to meet FGCU’s academic performance criteria. Applicants seeking to better understand the calculations involved in the review of their applications should contact FGCU directly for more information.

Applicants may also seek a waiver of the GMAT/GRE requirement by virtue of education or work experience. In regards to education, applicants may qualify by having: 1) a doctoral or comparable terminal degree, 2) an undergraduate degree from an AACSB-accredited business program with a minimum 3.0 GPA in upper division coursework (last 60 credit hours) within the last seven years, 3) an undergraduate degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program with a minimum 3.0 GPA in the upper division coursework within the last seven years, 4) an undergraduate degree in a STEM program from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.5 (overall) within the last seven years, or 5) a graduate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university (or equivalent foreign institution).

Applicants may also qualify for a GMAT waiver via their work experience. To qualify based on work experience, applicants must have held a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 hours of their baccalaureate degree and submit several documents. Details on this process can be found on the FGCU MBA admissions webpage.

Finally, applicants may also be offered conditional admission. Applicants who do not meet the aforementioned GMAT waiver criteria but who have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 for the last 60 credit hours of their baccalaureate degree may be offered conditional admission to the MBA program without submitting a GMAT score. These applicants must then successfully complete two of the four required courses with a grade of B or higher before registering for other courses in their program. The four courses they may select from are data-driven decision making, managerial accounting, finance management, and managerial economics.

Given the fact that admissions requirements change over time as well as the complexity of these requirements, it is recommended that prospective students contact FGCU to verify current admissions requirements and have satisfactorily prepared a complete application.

FGCU Online MBA Programs

State Restrictions: FGCU welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds, such as military personnel and transfer students. Master’s degree programs offered exclusively online do not meet the requirements for international students. International students are thus not eligible to apply to FGCU’s online MBA program.

Applicants with military backgrounds may receive assistance via the FGCU Office of Military and Veteran Success. This office supports veterans, active-duty service members, and their families in their educational pursuits. The office offers campus resources, community connection and guidance in navigating the process of applying to not just FGCU but also military-specific resources such as VA Education Benefits and military transfer credit. Military applicants should also note that each military branch has its own tuition assistance application and process.

Students who already meet the requirements for admission to the FGCU online MBA program, have graduate-level course credit from another institution of higher education, and wish to transfer into the FGCU MBA program should contact FGCU admissions to learn about eligibility and the requirements of the transfer process. Prior to admission to an FGCU graduate program, students may complete up to 9 credit hours of graduate-level coursework on a non-degree-seeking basis.

Study Plan: Students can complete these MBA programs in as little as 12 months. Students interested in completing these programs on a part-time basis should contact FGCU directly to determine what options are available.
