Norwich University, located in Northfield, Vermont, offers an online MBA with a general track or one of seven concentrations: project management, construction management, energy management, finance, organizational leadership, supply chain management and logistics, and technology management. The one-course-at-a-time format allows students to really focus and dig deep into that particular material.

The online MBA core courses focus on strategic management of organizations including human motivation, measurement of performance, quality leadership, and organizational culture; managerial finance, including financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and risk analysis; and strategic marketing and operations management, including the product lifecycle model which integrates the two concepts. Students are then able to choose an area of focus or continue with a general MBA track.

Anyone with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution may apply. The program is designed for professionals wishing to move into leadership positions in business organizations or as entrepreneurs in the business world. Graduates of the online MBA program may be prepared for roles such as account executive, director of finance, chief executive officer, operations manager, or supply chain manager, among others.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 2.75 or higher from an accredited institution in the US, or an equivalent degree evaluated by WES, CED, IERF, or SpanTran (if earned outside the US). No GMAT/GRE or work experience is required. Applicants must submit an application, resume, official transcripts, a letter of intent, one letter of recommendation, and proof of English language proficiency (international students only).

Study Plan: The six courses for the online MBA last 11 weeks each. Start dates are offered in March, June, September, and December. This allows students to take one course at a time and build upon learned knowledge throughout the program. For all concentrations (but not the general MBA), students are required to complete an independent research project by the end of the final course. All students must also take a comprehensive MBA exam during the final course. The program ends with an on-campus residency at Norwich University that includes learning, networking, awards, and a commencement.

Curriculum: The online MBA through Norwich University consists of 36 credits over six courses. Core courses of six credits each include strategic resources management, managerial finance, and strategic marketing and operations management. Students then take the following six-credit courses, depending on their chosen path:

General: seminar in international business, two elective courses from list (strategic management; leading change in organizations; project management techniques; tools and practices; or supply chain management strategy, planning and operations)

Project Management: project management techniques, tools and practices; project management leadership communication and teams; strategic management in project management

Construction Management: project management techniques, tools and practices; contracts and insurance; project finance and accounting

Energy Management: energy savings and efficiency projects; energy resources and markets; managing corporate energy needs

Finance: multinational business finance; strategic management in finance; investments and portfolio management

Organizational Leadership: strategic organizational behavior; leading change in organizations; strategic organizational leadership and developing a learning organization

Supply Chain Management and Logistics: supply chain management strategy, planning, and operations; supply chain management logistics, design, and execution; supply chain management assessment, integration, and optimization

Technology Management: technology management strategy; supply chain management strategy, planning, and operations; project management techniques, tools, and practices

A comprehensive exam is required as part of the online MBA program and is administered in the final course. All concentrations (but not the general MBA) must also complete an independent research project by the end of the final course.

Online Experience: The online MBA program is structured so that students take one course at a time to avoid juggling multiple courses and assignments. The program includes learning that is immediately applicable to situations in the workplace, with case studies that help students apply learned concepts to real-world situations.

The online MBA is asynchronous allowing students to view lectures and complete assignments at times that work best for them. Through the online Moodle platform, students can access lessons and assignments, participate in class discussions, interact with faculty, check grades, and upload assignments. Students have access to all resources enjoyed by on-campus students, such as library services, 24/7 technical support, and career counseling.

On-Site Requirements: The online MBA ends with a campus residency at Norwich University the June following or simultaneous with the final course. The residency includes learning opportunities, networking, recognition, and commencement. The cost of meals and accommodations is covered by Norwich University. Students are responsible for travel expenses to and from campus.

The cost of meals and accommodations for the residency are covered by the university. Students are responsible for travel expenses to and from Norwich University for the residency. Students interested in financial aid should contact the Norwich University Office of Financial Aid. Students may be eligible for federal student loans by applying through the FAFSA. Norwich University currently offers scholarships for alumni and active military duty students. Some students may also be eligible for a tuition discount through the Norwich Partners program, depending on their place of employment. Applicants are encouraged to seek tuition reimbursement from their employer or check into outside resources to fund their MBA education.
