What to Expect from the Norwich University Online MBA Programs
Admission Requirements: Applicants must have a BS with a GPA of 2.75 or higher from an accredited institution in the US, or an equivalent degree evaluated by WES, CED, IERF, or SpanTran if earned outside the US. Two years of professional work experience is required for admission. No GMAT/GRE is required. Applicants must submit an application, resume, official transcripts, a letter of intent, one letter of recommendation, and proof of English language proficiency if needed. Demonstration of English language proficiency is often required of international students.
Study Plan: The six courses for the online MBA last 11 weeks each. Start dates are offered in March, June, September, December. This allows students to take one course at a time and build upon learned knowledge throughout the program. For all concentrations (not the general MBA) students are required to complete an independent research project by the end of the final course.
All students must also take a comprehensive MBA exam during the final course. The program ends with an on-campus residency at Norwich University that includes learning, networking, awards, and commencement. Students of the following concentrations must also complete an independent research project: construction management, energy management, finance, organizational leadership, project management, supply chain management and logistics, and technology management.
MBA Curriculum: The online MBA through Norwich University consists of 36 credits composed of six courses that each earn a student six credit hours. Core courses of 6 credits each include strategic resources management; managerial finance; and strategic marketing and operations management. Students of some concentrations are required to complete an independent research project (IRP). This is required of students of the following concentrations: construction management, energy management, finance, organizational leadership, project management, supply chain management and logistics, and technology management.
An IRP begins in the fourth course, is completed in three phases, and ends in the sixth (last) course. Students receive guidance for completing each phase of the IRP in the first week of each of the three concentration courses that make up the full IRP requirement. Depending on their concentration, some students will take elective courses rather than complete an IRP. A listing of course topics for each concentration appears below.
