Southeastern Oklahoma State University Online Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Southeastern Oklahoma State University (SOSU), founded in 1909 and created by an act of the Second Oklahoma State Legislature, was originally called the Southeastern State Normal School. The original focus of Southeastern was preparing teachers for careers in education in the public schools of Oklahoma.

The institution became a four-year college in 1921 and, after expanding its degree programs and growing over many years, was renamed as Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1974 by an act of the Oklahoma State Legislature.

SOSU offers an environment designed to cultivate academic excellence and the fulfillment of students’ greatest potential. The Southeastern Oklahoma State University John Massey School of Business offers an online master of business administration (MBA) degree program with fifteen specializations: accounting, aerospace logistics, data analytics, entrepreneurship, finance, healthcare information systems, human resources, leadership, management, marketing, Native American leadership, project management, safety, strategic communication, and a general MBA program.

The SOSU MBA program’s exceedingly large number of specializations makes SOSU an excellent choice for students of diverse backgrounds seeking the education necessary to apply their skills within countless settings within the world of business.

SOSU, located in Durant, Oklahoma, is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The SOSU John Massey School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International).

SOSU Online MBA

State Restrictions: SOSU offers admission to students with a wide variety of backgrounds. International students with an F-1 visa are, however, not allowed to participate in SOSU’s online MBA program. International students willing to relocate to Oklahoma to pursue an MBA program in person are eligible for admission consideration. International students seeking admission to an in-person MBA program or other in-person degree programs should consult the SOSU website for more details on admissions.

Military personnel are another source of students for many universities. SOSU welcomes applications from individuals with military backgrounds, including active duty personnel, veterans, and dependents. The SOSU Veterans Services Office is responsible for serving the many needs of the university’s current and former military student population, as well as other individuals, such as their dependents. SOSU’s School Certifying Official (SCO) can assist military applicants with both program and eligibility information and also acts as a liaison between veteran students/dependents and the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). The SCO may also be able to assist with military applicants’ applications for tuition assistance programs available to them by virtue of their military backgrounds.

Applicants with military backgrounds seeking to study in an SOSU online MBA program enroll under the category of transfer students. Transfer students are eligible for admission provided they submit a complete admission application, an application fee, and official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and/or universities. In addition, transfer students must be eligible to return to the last college or university they attended. In some instances, transfer students may also be required to complete college placement tests and/or remedial coursework. Students with military backgrounds must submit their military transcripts. Military students are also eligible to receive assistance from SOSU’s Educational Opportunity Center.

Study Plan: Students can complete SOSU’s various MBA programs within as little as 12 months. Students interested in completing their program of study part-time or over an extended time period should contact SOSU admissions to verify the current policy regarding degree study planning.

Many students ultimately finance their education through a combination of sources such as scholarships, grants, private loans, work-study, and more.
