Southern Utah University Online Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Southern Utah University (SUU) provides an academic community committed to helping students achieve their professional potential. SUU offers small class sizes, hands-on experience, and career-focused learning. SUU offers a valuable education whose cost is competitive among other institutions of higher education.
The SUU Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business offers an online master of business administration (MBA) program with twelve specializations: arts administration; aviation administration and leadership; business analytics; cybersecurity; finance; healthcare administration; human resources; leadership; marketing; project management; a dual degree program featuring an MBA combined with a master of science in nursing; and a general MBA program. This large variety of specializations makes the SUU MBA program very appealing to a diverse student body who, upon graduation, go on to fulfill SUU’s vision in a multitude of ways.
SUU, located in Cedar City, Utah, has been accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) since 1933. SUU’s Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International).
What to Expect from SUU Online MBA Programs
Admission Requirements: Applicants must submit an online application, hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in which they held a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, and submit a transcript that documents this minimal required education and academic performance. Applicants with a GPA between 2.5 and 3.29 will be offered provisional admission. Applicants who meet the education requirement through past study at SUU are not required to submit a transcript. Applicants are not required to submit a GMAT/GRE score as a precondition for admission consideration.
State Restrictions: SUU welcomes students from diverse backgrounds, including international applicants, military personnel, and others.
International graduate applicants must fulfill both all MBA program admission requirements as well as all international admission requirements to be able to study in the MBA program. International students complete a mixture of online and in-person courses in their MBA program.
In addition to meeting the requirements typical of US citizen students, many international students must demonstrate English language proficiency. A listing of accepted English proficiency exam providers can be found on the SUU website. International students who completed an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in the U.S. or another English-speaking country may submit their official transcripts as proof of English proficiency. All international college transcripts must be evaluated by an approved foreign credential evaluation company. SUU’s preferred evaluation company is The Evaluation Company. International applicants must also have a valid passport and demonstrate they have funds available for their first year of study. International students receive supportive services from the SUU International Student and Scholar Services Office (ISSS). ISSS provides a variety of services, including admissions support, visa interviews, housing, student orientation, health insurance, immigration maintenance, US cultural courses, driver’s licenses, taxes, tuition, travel advising, and more.
SUU also welcomes military personnel to pursue its MBA programs. Veterans, active-duty personnel, reservists, Guard members and their dependents may all qualify for a variety of resources to support their pursuit of SUU MBA programs. The SUU Veterans Resource and Support Center serves as the nexus for providing such resources. Military applicants may have their application fee waived. SUU offers in-state residency and tuition for veterans and dependents provided verification requirements are met. Qualifying military applicants seeking residency exceptions must provide documentation like a DD Form 214, DD Form 256, or NGB Form 22. Veterans must ensure an official copy of their joint services transcript (JST for all branches other than Air Force; CCAF for Air Force members) is provided to SUU Admissions. Military applicants may also be offered academic credit for military training upon review of their transcripts. A review of an applicant’s military transcript is necessary for those seeking to use VA educational benefits to pay for their schooling.
Given the number of military branches, the diverse training and service experiences military personnel may have prior to approaching SUU, and the wide variety of resources dedicated to military individuals it is highly recommended that military applicants work closely with SUU throughout the admission process as well as once they enroll.
Information on admissions requirements for students of other backgrounds can be found on the SUU website.
