What to Expect from UNC Online MBA Programs
-
Admission Requirements: Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in which they maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Applicants with a GPA between 2.5 and 3.0 may still qualify but will be required to meet additional requirements, such as professional work experience considered relevant to their academic pursuits. Some applicants who earned a higher degree from an accredited institution without receiving a bachelor’s degree may also be considered eligible for admission. Though a GMAT test score is generally not required for applicants who have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or more, applicants who fail to meet certain academic performance and work experience guidelines may be requested to take the GMAT exam as a way of qualifying for admission.
In addition to the application they must submit via the Centralized Application Service (CAS), applicants must also submit official transcripts from each accredited college or university where they obtained any degree that was a bachelor’s degree or higher. The Graduate School & International Admission Office reserves the right to require applicants to provide official transcripts from other colleges or universities as needed. Current UNC students and alumni are not required to pay a graduate school application fee, but those applicants who use CAS to submit an application must pay an application fee.
The aforementioned requirements are identical across all MBA specializations. Because admissions requirements are subject to change, it is recommended that all prospective applicants contact a student services representative to verify current admission requirements.
-
State Restrictions: University of Northern Colorado welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds, including international applicants and military personnel.
UNC offers admission to international students. The applications international applicants must prepare are generally more complex than those required of US citizen students. A complete application generally consists of an online application, an application fee, transcripts, demonstration of English language proficiency as proven by an accepted English language exam provider, financial self-sufficiency documentation, a copy of the applicant’s passport, and supplemental materials which are often unique to the program an applicant seeks entry to. International students must also have a valid student visa. Interested individuals who would apply as international students should contact the UNC MBA program directly to verify whether they are eligible for admissions consideration.
Military students receive support during both the admission process and their studies via UNC Veterans Services. UNC accepts military credit, VA educational benefits, and also participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program. Up to 30 semester hours of credit may be accepted for college-level courses taken as part of an applicant’s military training/education at U.S. military service schools. To assess academic coursework and potential transferability, military applicants must submit a Joint Services Transcript (JST), DD-214, or official military service school transcript. Credits approved for transfer will be counted as non-residency transfer work.
-
Study Plan: Students can complete UNC’s varied MBA programs within as little as 12 months. Students interested in completing their program of study part-time or over an extended time period should contact a student services representative to verify current UNC policy regarding degree study planning.
-

Students may qualify for financial aid to finance their education. To apply for financial aid, applicants submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). As noted above, there are a variety of means to finance higher education, including grants, scholarships, work study, private loans, and more. In the fall of 2024, in an effort to ensure that a UNC education remains affordable, UNC introduced the UNC Tuition Promise program. The UNC Tuition Promise program is made possible through a combination of federal, state, institutional, and donor-based funds.
Students from certain backgrounds may also qualify for financial assistance due to their unique circumstances. Military students are but one example. UNC offers a variety of tuition support for military and veteran students. Examples include the Post-9/11 GI Bill, the Yellow Ribbon Program, and the Colorado National Guard Tuition Waiver. All prospective and current students are encouraged to thoroughly explore their financing options and proactively seek support from the UNC Office of Financial Aid staff.
