What to Expect from UNCW Online MBA Programs

Admission Requirements: To be considered for admission, applicants must submit a graduate admission application, official transcripts of all completed college work, two online letters of recommendation, a resume, and a statement of interest. Applicants generally must also submit GMAT/GRE scores but this requirement has been waived for all admissions occurring through the end of 2025. Students must generally have a minimum of two years of full-time, post-baccalaureate professional work experience to be granted admission; applicants to the MBA executive concentration must have at least five years of such experience.

Applicants must generally have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on all undergraduate work. Applicants with a cumulative GPA less than 3.0 may still be granted admission, provided they can demonstrate professional experience and/or advancement that shows genuine professional progression since completion of their undergraduate degrees. Given the number of specialization options and the fact that admissions requirements often change, applicants are advised to contact UNCW directly to verify that their applications meet admission requirements.

State Restrictions: UNCW welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds, including international applicants and military personnel.

International applicants follow a similar application process to that of domestic students. International applicants must also submit English language test scores, financial documentation attesting to the availability of financial resources to meet their needs while studying, and proof of a valid passport. Specific details regarding proof of English language proficiency for degree-seeking students can be found on the UNCW Admissions website. Transcripts not originally composed in English must be translated by an accepted translation service provider. The UNCW Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) is responsible for assisting international students with various needs, including the application process.

UNCW serves over 2,000 military-affiliated students. Active-duty, veteran, and other military-affiliated applicants may receive application fee waivers, priority registration, college credit for military training and experience, a military student payment plan, and additional resources. The UNC system has a military equivalency system it uses to facilitate the transfer of military credits across all UNC member institutions. Military applicants follow an application process similar to civilian US citizen students. Veterans and active service members, including National Guard and Reserve service members, apply as transfer students, while military/veteran spouses and their dependents may apply as either first-year students or transfer students, depending on their backgrounds.

Military applicants submit their official military transcripts (Joint Services Transcript for all branches but the Air Force or CCAF transcript for Air Force personnel) as part of their application. Military students may also receive Department of Defense Tuition Assistance and VA educational benefits to finance their education.

Applicants of other backgrounds are recommended to contact UNCW directly to verify the admissions requirements that apply to their particular circumstances.

Study Plan: Students can complete the MBA program within as little as 12 months. Students interested in completing their program of study part-time or over an extended time period should contact UNCW to verify the current policy regarding degree study planning.
