Wake Forest University Online Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Wake Forest University offers an online MBA with a general track or in one of three concentrations: business analytics, finance, or strategy and leadership. No campus visits are required and the program can be completed in a little over two years.

Online MBA courses cover a comprehensive array of topics such as team member dynamics, business ethics, financial management, organizational leadership, information technology, marketing, business analytics, economics, accounting, operations management, and business law. In addition to the core courses, students choose a concentration with specific courses or choose three courses from the concentrations to complete a customized general MBA.

Start dates for the online MBA land in the fall, spring, and summer, and courses last seven weeks each with two terms per semester. Students typically take two to three courses per semester. The GMAT or GRE is required; however, a waiver is available for qualified applicants. Note that applicants should be currently employed full-time and two years of post-graduate, professional work experience is preferred.

The business analytics concentration focuses on the management of big data, coding languages, data management software, data manipulation, data analysis, descriptive modeling, and data visualization. Graduates will be prepared to not only analyze data but also to present findings to professionals and organizations.

The finance concentration focuses on investment analysis, risk management, financial decision-making, financial modeling, forecasting, advanced valuation techniques, asset allocation, and portfolio management. Graduates will have the skills necessary to make complex financial decisions in personal as well as organizational settings.

The strategy and leadership concentration focuses on influential thinking, negotiation, contemporary leadership issues, and strategy implementation and execution. Graduates will be able to take on management roles with the negotiation, leadership, and decision-making skills needed to succeed in today’s business environment.

Wake Forest University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The online MBA is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Wake Forest University is located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. What to Expect from the Wake Forest University Online MBA

Admission Requirements: Applicants to the online MBA program must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. The GMAT or GRE is required. A GMAT/GRE waiver is available for applicants with five or more years of professional work experience, a master’s degree, or who hold a bachelor’s degree with a 3.2 GPA or higher.

The Wake Forest University School of Business prefers applicants to have at least two years of professional, post-graduate work experience. Some exceptions may apply to non-traditional applicants. Additionally, online MBA students must be currently employed full-time, unless special permission is granted otherwise.

Application materials include a non-refundable application fee, a one-page resume or CV, contact information for two references, a legal disclosure, GMAT/GRE test scores, and unofficial transcripts. Official transcripts will be required upon admission. An interview is also required via invitation.

Study Plan: Wake Forest University offers two seven-week terms per semester. Students typically take two to three courses per semester. Start dates land in the fall, spring, and summer. The online MBA program is 100 percent online and can be completed in two years.

Curriculum: The Wake Forest University online MBA comprises 45 credits. During the first seven-week term students take the courses diverse teams and purpose and ethics in business.

Core courses for all pathways include financial management; behavior and leadership in organizations; information technology management; business analytics I-II; financial accounting; managerial accounting; business law; introduction to strategy; global strategic management; managerial economics; marketing management; and operations management.

Concentration courses for the business analytics concentration include data management; analytics software technology; and visual analytics and influencing.

The finance concentration includes the courses financial modeling and forecasting; tactical asset allocation and portfolio management; and advanced financial management.

The strategy and leadership concentration includes the courses contemporary issues and leadership; the influential leader; and mastering strategy execution.

Online Experience: Wake Forest University utilizes the Canvas online learning management system (LMS) and Zoom videoconferencing. A strong emphasis is placed on peer-faculty interaction, group learning, and topic discussion. Courses may include live video sessions, group projects, discussion boards, readings, assignments, and assessments.

Student support services may include technical support, library and bookstore services, faculty office hours, financial aid services, admissions counseling, and career counseling.

On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements as the Wake Forest University online MBA is 100 percent online.
