An online MBA in healthcare administration is also offered. The UL Lafayette online MBA is offered through the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration.

Most of the concentrations comprise 33 credits and can be completed in as few as 15 months, while the MBA in healthcare administration comprises 39 credits and can be completed in as few as 18 months. No campus visits are required and the GMAT is waived for most applicants. Students take accelerated eight-week courses and start dates land twice each in the fall and spring, and once in the summer.

Participants in the MBA in healthcare administration must complete two local internships with an approved healthcare organization in order to complete the program. One internship focuses on executive roles and the other is project-based. Those with significant healthcare administration work experience may petition to have one internship waived.

Topics covered in the online MBA may include quality management, technology management, ethics, international business, policy, strategy, marketing, and organizational behavior. Each concentration includes courses specifically designed for the designated business area. For example, participants in the global management concentration focus on the management of multinational companies. Topics covered may include the study of cultures, domestic and foreign goods, global environments, and the ethics involved in international business.

UL Lafayette participates in the Open Educational Resources Degree Initiative, eliminating the cost and hassle of securing books for the courses. All course materials are included in the online platform including e-books, case studies, journals, and other resources.

Graduates of the online MBA may go on to leadership and management positions with titles such as chief executive officer (CEO), director of operations, chief operations officer (COO), senior manager, or general manager. What to Expect from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Online MBA

Admission Requirements: Applicants to the online MBA program must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Varying GPA requirements apply. Unconditional admittance may be gained for those with a 2.75 GPA or higher. The GMAT is waived for applicants with a 3.0 or higher, or those with a 2.75 to 2.99 GPA and three or more years of relevant work experience. The GMAT is required for applicants with a 2.75 to 2.99 GPA who have less than three years of relevant work experience.

Conditional admittance may be gained by those with a cumulative GPA of less than 2.75 with varying admission requirements depending on the number of years of relevant work experience. After the completion of 12 credits with a 3.0 GPA, unconditionally admitted students may petition for full admittance and may continue in the online MBA program if accepted. The GMAT may be required for conditional admittance.

Application materials vary depending on the point of entry and may include official transcripts, letters of reference, a resume, a personal statement, and a GMAT test score. Proof of English language proficiency is required as applicable.

Study Plan: The University of Louisiana at Lafayette runs accelerated online courses every eight weeks. Start dates land in August, October, January, March, and June. The UL Lafayette online MBA in healthcare administration comprises 39 credits and can be completed in as few as 18 months. Students in this concentration complete two local internships at approved healthcare organizations.

The other MBA concentrations comprise 33 credits and can be completed in as few as 15 months. The online MBA program is 100 percent online. New students participate in an online orientation before signing up for classes and beginning the program.

Curriculum: The UL Lafayette online MBA concentrations (excluding the healthcare administration concentration) include the following core courses: management of information technology; managerial economics; policy formation, strategy, and administration; data analysis; marketing management; organizational behavior and leadership; and international business.

The MBA in business administration (general) includes analytical methods for planning and control; advanced financial management and policy; operations and project management; and business law.

The MBA in entrepreneurship includes organizational behavior and leadership; marketing management; entrepreneurial management; and law for entrepreneurs.

The MBA in finance includes analytical methods for planning and control; advanced financial management and policy; security analysis and portfolio management; and financial markets and institutions.

The MBA in global management includes international business; multinational value chain; organizational behavior and leadership; and international business law.

The MBA in hospitality management includes organizational behavior and leadership; international business; feasibility studies in hospitality and tourism; and global contemporary issues in hospitality and tourism.

The MBA in human resource management includes organizational behavior and leadership; personnel management; data analysis; and employment law.

The MBA in project management includes analytical methods for planning and control; organizational behavior and Leadership; and project management I-II.

The MBA in entrepreneurship includes organizational behavior and leadership; marketing management; negotiations; and customer relationship management (CRM).

The MBA in healthcare administration requires completion of 39 credits and includes the following courses: managerial economics; policy formulation, strategy, and administration; analytical methods for planning and control; marketing management; advanced financial management and policy; international business; healthcare information systems; healthcare delivery systems; quality management in healthcare; healthcare law; healthcare economics; and an internship.

Students without a business bachelor’s degree may need to complete four additional foundation courses of one credit each, including foundations of accounting; foundations of economics; foundations of finance; and foundations of quantitative methods.

Online Experience: The University of Louisiana at Lafayette utilizes the ULink web portal. Through this portal, students can access email and connect to the Moodle learning management system (LMS). Through ULink, students also access registration, advising, financial aid, grades, schedules, and more.

In the Moodle LMS, students can participate in discussion boards, complete and submit assignments, participate in chat sessions, create a personal calendar, respond to surveys, check grades, and find out about upcoming events. Online student services include academic advising, faculty office hours, technical support, online tutoring, career counseling through the UL Lafayette Office of Career Services, an online bookstore and library, and financial aid services.

On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements as the UL Lafayette online MBA is 100 percent online. Students in the online MBA in healthcare administration must complete two local internships to complete the program. A new student online orientation is included prior to the beginning of the program.
