The F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business allows students to choose up to two concentrations which would then be reflected on their transcript, however this is not mandatory. Concentrations include entrepreneurship, finance, and marketing.

What to Expect from the Babson College Online MBA

Admission Requirements: Applicants to the Babson online MBA must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. No GMAT or GRE is currently required for the program.

Participants in the Babson online MBA typically have five to ten years of work experience; however, no specific work experience is required. Application materials include resume, one letter of professional recommendation, written responses to short-answer questions, official transcripts, an optional essay for the admissions committee, an interview, and an application fee.

Students whose native language is not English must submit English language proficiency test scores. Note that residents of California are not eligible for the Babson online MBA.

Study Plan: The Babson online MBA is self-paced, but, can be completed in as little as 18 months. Pick from five start dates based on what works best for your schedule. Students take one-third of their courses as core courses and the other two-thirds are electives that can be focused in up to two concentrations.

Curriculum: The online MBA consists of 45 credits, one-third of which constitutes the MBA core. This core is based on key functional areas and is designed to be experiential and interdisciplinary.

Courses include three areas: Leading Through Opportunity and Design, Leading Through Innovation and Growth; and the Babson Consulting Experience. Courses include Entrepreneurship; Finance; Financial Reporting; Managing People and Organizations; Business analytics; Marketing; Operations and Information Management; and Strategy.

Electives consist of a variety of courses some of which may include Entrepreneurship and the Gig Economy; Food Entrepreneurship; Cognitive Technology; Business Strategy and Game Theory; Business Intelligence, Analytics, and Visualization; Leading Business Turnaround; Negotiation; New Venture Creation; Leading for Social Values; and Real Estate Investment Fundamentals.

Online MBA students can take electives from any of the concentrations.

Online Experience: In-person faculty run live, in-person sessions which also include the online MBA students who are integrated into the classroom experience through collaboration, asking and answering questions, and commenting on the concepts shared. Classes may include break-out groups and other collaborative experiences. In this way, students participate real-time as the course is taught on campus. Online students need a laptop or desktop, webcam, and microphone to participate in live classes.

On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements for the Babson College 100 percent online MBA program. There may be opportunities for electives abroad, research, and consulting experiences.
