Cameron University (CU) was originally one of six agricultural high schools created in the year 1908, just one year after Oklahoma became a state. CU was initially called the Cameron State School of Agriculture in honor of the Rev. E. D. Cameron, a Baptist minister who was also Oklahoma’s first State Superintendent of Schools.
The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education first authorized CU to offer bachelor’s degrees in 1966. CU took its current name in 1974. CU began offering master’s degree programs in 1988. In the present day, CU serves students throughout the world via its certificate, two-year, four-year, and graduate programs.
The CU MBA program offers an online master of business administration (MBA) degree featuring a generalist business curriculum. The CU Department of Business aims to educate and prepare its students to become skilled professionals who will contribute their expertise to their employers, communities, and the business profession. The MBA program curriculum is designed and offered using a student-centered approach.
CU, located in Lawton, Oklahoma, is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The CU Department of Business MBA program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

What to Expect from CU Online MBA Programs
Admission Requirements: To be offered admission to the CU MBA program, applicants must be offered admission to CU graduate studies and meet one of these criteria: 1) have a minimum undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0, 2) have a minimum undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 in the last 60 credits of undergraduate coursework, 3) have a minimum GMAT score of 500 or a comparable converted score on the GRE, or 4) meet one of the following two requirements: achieve a composite score of 3200 based on GMAT scores and undergraduate GPA or hold a minimum GPA of at least 3.0 in at least 12 credits of graduate hours completed at another institution or in a different graduate degree program at CU, or in a combination of the two. State Restrictions: BGSU welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds such as international applicants and military personnel.
International students seeking graduate admission to complete the MBA program must submit a complete online application, a non-refundable application fee, a copy of the biographical page of their current, valid passport, proof of English language proficiency as demonstrated by a proficiency exam administered by an approved exam provider (not applicable to all students), official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended, an affidavit of financial support, and proof of guaranteed funds.
Transcripts from non-American colleges or universities must be reviewed by an approved foreign academic credentials reviewing agency. The resulting document must feature a course-by-course evaluation, and the transcript must reflect a GPA as used in the American system. All transcripts must include an official English language translation. Details on what English language proficiency exam providers are accepted can be found on the CU website. International applicants must then also fulfill the MBA program academic performance requirements noted in the prior section focused on MBA program admission criteria.
Military and related applicants complete an application process composed of four phases. These four phases are preparatory, application, interim, and enrollment. US citizens with military backgrounds will apply as graduate students at CU. In the preparatory phase, applicants assemble their required documents, such as a copy of their military orders, DD-214 form, transcripts, and so on. Prospective military students are also advised to begin researching what educational and other benefits may be available to them early in the process.
During the active application phase, active duty applicants should expect to receive notification of approval of their tuition assistance application from an education services officer or military education counselor. Within this phase, applicants should submit necessary documents such as ACT/SAT scores, official military transcripts, any other transcripts from education completed outside their time in the military, and so on. Study Plan: Students can complete the CU MBA degree in as little as 24 months. Students interested in completing their program of study over an extended time period should contact a student services representative to verify the current university policy regarding degree study planning.
MBA Curriculum: The MBA program requires completion of 33 credits of coursework consisting of 24 credits of core courses and nine credits of electives.
Core coursework is further subdivided into 18 credits of common core courses, three credits of economics coursework (Core Area I), and three credits in the topic of human resources and organizational admin (Core Area II). The six common core courses students complete cover the following topics: accounting for management; applied business statistics; applied business strategy; managerial finance; management information systems; and contemporary marketing problems. Students complete a course in the topic of managerial economics or issues in global economics to fulfill their Core Area I requirement. Students complete one of the following three course topics to complete their Core Area II requirement: current issues in organizational design; current issues in human resource management; or organizational behavior.
The nine credits of electives may be completed in one of two ways. Students may complete nine credits of courses approved by the graduate advisor and Chair or they may complete three credits of courses and six credits of thesis work as approved by the graduate advisor and Chair. Students intent on pursuing a doctoral degree are strongly encouraged to choose the thesis option.
Online Experience: The CU online MBA degree program is offered fully online. There are no on-campus coursework or other participation requirements to complete this program. Though CU is located in the modestly sized community of Lawton, Oklahoma (<100,000 people), the university’s embrace of online learning delivery allows its MBA program to reach a much larger audience. Through online learning many students can benefit from the CU MBA program.
On-Site Requirements: As noted above, the CU MBA degree program is offered fully online. There are no on-campus requirements.

Many students use a variety of resources to finance their education. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a ubiquitous form that often serves as the primary application used to determine eligibility for federal, state, and institutional aid. The FAFSA is issued annually, and universities generally provide robust support to help students understand and complete it. Financial aid eligibility determinations generated by the FAFSA and other applications are often generated based on a number of factors, such as academic achievement, talent, financial need, and family background. Students may also be eligible to apply for the Cameron Scholarship via the CU website.
Applicants should also note that individuals from certain backgrounds may be eligible for additional financial assistance. Examples of such backgrounds include military personnel, first-generation students, and those with significant obstacles in their family and personal backgrounds.
