What to Expect from GSW Online MBA Programs
Admission Requirements: GSW welcomes applications from a diverse group of individuals. Applicants must submit an online graduate application for admission, a non-refundable application fee, official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended, and legal name verification. Students with a GPA of less than 3.25 must also submit a statement of purpose as well as a resume. Students with a GPA less than 3.00 may also be asked to submit GRE/GMAT scores. Upon enrollment, all students will also be required to submit an immunization form. Applicants may apply for admittance during any semester.
In some cases, students may be required to complete MBA foundational courses up to a total of 12 credit-hours. MBA foundational course topics include principles of accounting, business statistics, business finance, and principles of management.
Students with a bachelor’s degree in business have normally completed such coursework. Applicants whose academic history does not feature some or all of the course topics listed above must apply as a graduate student in the MBA program, complete these foundational courses at the beginning of the MBA program, and achieve a GPA of at least 3.0 in these courses to continue in the program. GSW offers these foundational courses online each semester.
State Restrictions: GSW welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds such as international applicants and military personnel.
International applicants submit their online application for admission, a non-refundable application fee, a current photograph, immunization record, and official transcripts in order to be considered. Individuals who are currently enrolled in or have completed a degree at an accredited college/university in the US must submit official transcripts from each college/university attended. Applicants from outside the US who completed at least a portion of their education outside the USA must submit their foreign transcripts to a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE) approved foreign academic credential evaluation service, which will, in turn, send the evaluation on to GSW.
International students must often demonstrate English language proficiency to be admitted to academic programs in the USA. Applicants who are or have attended or graduated from a secondary school or college in a non-native English-speaking country must prove language proficiency via an exam provided by an approved English language proficiency exam provider. The GSW website provides information on approved language exam providers.
Veterans and related individuals are also encouraged to pursue a GSW MBA degree. Such individuals should contact GSW directly to confirm application requirements. Veterans interested in obtaining educational benefits must meet all applicable admission requirements to be deemed eligible for consideration for such benefits. They should begin the process of applying for VA and educational benefits as soon as possible after being granted admission.
GSW welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds to its academic programs. Such individuals should consult the GSW website for information on admission requirements applicable to them.
Study Plan: Students can typically complete these MBA degrees in five semesters, spanning an 18-month period. Students interested in completing their program of study over an extended time period should contact a student services representative to verify the current Georgia Southwestern State University policy regarding degree study planning. Students may be eligible to receive transfer credit upon completion of a credit for prior learning (CPL) review process. Experience that may result in award of such credit may include life experience and military training.
MBA Curriculum: The MBA curriculum is based upon knowledge from various functional areas as well as faculty expertise. Students complete eight core courses, totaling 24 credit hours. These courses focus on the following topics: managerial economics; marketing management; advanced business finance; quantitative management; international business practice; managerial control; organizational theory and behavior; and strategic management. Students then complete six credit hours of electives from 6000 Level MBA courses approved upon consultation with a student’s academic advisor.
Online Experience: The GSW online MBA degree program is offered fully online. There are no on-campus coursework or other participation requirements to complete this program. GSW’s online learning delivery model is designed to enhance accessibility and thereby increase the pool of qualified applicants who enroll, study, and ultimately graduate with an MBA.

The GSW Office of Student Financial Aid and the GSW website offer assistance with students’ educational financing. The Office of Student Financial Aid may offer a variety of financial resources, including grants, institutional scholarships, employment, and student loans. GSW is known for offering one of the most generous scholarship programs in Georgia. Additional potential financial resources include the Georgia HOPE Scholarship and federal student aid. Many students will ultimately use a variety of resources to finance their education, and federal student aid often features prominently in the resources students use.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a widely used application that serves as the primary means of determining eligibility for federal, state, and institutional aid. Financial aid eligibility determinations generated by the FAFSA and other applications are often based on several factors, including academic achievement, talent, financial need, and family background.
Students from certain backgrounds may be eligible for additional financial assistance. Examples of such backgrounds include military personnel and those with significant obstacles in their family and personal backgrounds.
