What to Expect from the Point University Online MBA Programs

Admission Requirements: Applicants to the online MBA program must hold a bachelor’s degree. Application materials include an online application, official transcripts, a two- to four-page admissions essay, and evidence of higher-level skills.

Prospective students with non-business-related bachelor’s degrees may be required to complete a foundational business course. This may be waived by passing the Point University Business Proficiency Exam, providing proof of prior completion of equivalent college-level courses, or showing a resume/work experience that demonstrates the competency is already held.

Accepted students may be eligible to transfer up to 10 credits to the MBA program, significantly shortening the time to completion. Students whose first language is not English must submit proof of language proficiency.

Study Plan: Point University runs courses every eight weeks, therefore sessions run twice per semester in the fall, spring, and summer. The MBA may be earned in two years without transfer credits and as little as one year with a transfer of up to 10 credits.

Curriculum: The Point University MBA comprises 30 credits. Students first complete graduate business orientation and foundations for business administration.

MBA courses include ethics and professional issues in business; persuasion and negotiation; business intelligence; financial statement analysis and valuation; strategic marketing; strategic management and Leadership; business innovation and creativity; applied leadership: change management and organizational culture; cost management and decision-making; and strategic human resource management.

Online Experience: Point University utilizes Point Online as the learning management system (LMS) for online courses. Students access the LMS through a single sign-on home screen. Under Point Online, students must set up a CampusNexus account to access courses, faculty, and other online resources. Courses are delivered asynchronously in small classes and with a decidedly faith-based Christian worldview. Students have weekly deadlines, but there are no synchronous course times. Online students may participate in a mentorship program to ensure success in the online MBA programs. Online students can also access academic advising, online tutoring, library and bookstore services, technical support, and career counseling.

On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements as the MBA programs are 100 percent online.
